Your Silicon Valley Weekend: March 27–29 — Spring Break Edition with Family Fun Across the Valley
Egg hunts, orchestral space scores, farmers markets, and a day trip to the boardwalk — this weekend has something for everyone in Silicon Valley.
Spring break is officially here, and Silicon Valley is buzzing with things to do this weekend. Whether you’re looking for family-friendly egg hunts in San Jose, a night at the symphony, or a spontaneous road trip down to Santa Cruz, the March 27–29 lineup has you covered. I put together a curated list of the best events and activities happening right in our backyard — from Sunnyvale and Mountain View to Campbell, Cupertino, and beyond.
One of the things I love about living and working in this part of the Bay Area is the sheer variety of weekend options. In a single Saturday you can browse fresh produce at a farmers market, take the kids to a hands-on museum, and still make it to a world-class concert that evening. That’s the Silicon Valley lifestyle, and it’s part of what makes our communities so special.
Spring Break Egg Hunts & Family Events
If you have little ones at home, this Saturday is basically the Super Bowl of spring break weekends. Multiple egg hunts and family festivals are happening across San Jose, and the weather is looking great for all of them.
Spring Eggstravaganza at History Park
Saturday, March 28 • 11 AM – 3:30 PM • 635 Phelan Ave, San Jose. Four egg hunts throughout the day, plus crafts celebrating spring around the world, face painting, balloon artists, and photos with the Easter Bunny. Covered spaces available if it rains.
Easter Eggstravaganza at The Plex
Saturday, March 28 • 10 AM – 2 PM. Egg hunts, local vendors, food trucks, and springtime photo ops for the whole family. A great option if you want to get an early start to the day before heading to other activities.
Gilroy Gardens Season Opener
Saturday, March 28 marks opening day for the 2026 season at Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park. Rides, gardens, and family-friendly attractions are back for the spring. Keep April 3–5 on your calendar too — that’s when the big Easter egg hunt weekend kicks off with over 100,000 eggs.
The Tech Interactive
201 S Market St, San Jose. Open Saturday 10 AM – 5 PM and Sunday 11 AM – 4 PM. Hands-on STEM exhibits, the Social Robots lab, Body Worlds Decoded, and the largest IMAX Dome Theater on the West Coast. A perfect indoor option for curious kids of all ages.
Spring break in Silicon Valley means sunshine, family time, and plenty of outdoor adventures.
Live Music & Culture
This weekend’s headliner event is absolutely spectacular — and I mean that literally.
Symphony San Jose: Hollywood Spectacular “Out of This World”
If you’re a movie fan, a music lover, or just want a memorable date night while the kids are at the grandparents’ house, this one is hard to beat. There’s something magical about hearing those iconic scores performed live by a full symphony orchestra.
For a more casual evening, ComedySportz in downtown San Jose has improv comedy shows running Friday and Saturday nights. Two teams compete head-to-head in comedy sketches — it’s audience-interactive and always a good time.
Symphony San Jose brings Hollywood’s greatest space scores to life this weekend at the California Theatre.
Saturday Morning Farmers Markets
One of my favorite ways to start a Silicon Valley weekend is with a stroll through a local farmers market. Here’s where to find the freshest produce, flowers, and artisan goods this weekend.
Sunnyvale Farmers Market
Saturday 9 AM – 1 PM on Murphy Avenue at Washington. Year-round market with local produce, baked goods, and prepared foods. Downtown Murphy Avenue is one of the best pedestrian streets in the South Bay — grab a coffee afterward and enjoy the morning.
Mountain View Farmers Market
Sunday 9 AM – 1 PM at the Mountain View Caltrain Station, 600 W Evelyn Ave. One of the largest year-round markets in the South Bay with an incredible selection of seasonal fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
Cupertino Farmers Market
Sunday 9 AM – 1 PM at 21250 Stevens Creek Blvd. A community favorite near the Cupertino Village shopping center, this market runs year-round and is a great stop before brunch.
Day Trip Ideas: Santa Cruz & San Francisco
Spring break is the perfect excuse for a quick day trip. Two standout options are less than an hour from the heart of Silicon Valley.
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
The boardwalk is open daily for spring break through April 19, with rides running every day. Saturday, March 28 has a partial closure from 8:30 to 10:30 AM for a private event, so plan to arrive late morning for the best experience. It’s about a 40-minute drive from Los Gatos over Highway 17, and the beach itself is free to enjoy even if you skip the rides. Pack a picnic, feel the ocean breeze, and let the kids run off some energy — it’s one of the classic Bay Area spring break traditions.
Renegade Craft Fair at Fort Mason, San Francisco
If you’re up for a trip to the city, the Renegade Craft Fair runs Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM at the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason. More than 250 makers and artisans will be set up with ceramics, apparel, home goods, bath products, and more. There are also hands-on workshops and gourmet food trucks. Entry is free with a suggested $5 donation. It’s indoors, so weather is not a factor — and Fort Mason’s waterfront views of the Golden Gate Bridge make it worth the drive.
Weekend markets and craft fairs are a signature part of the Bay Area spring experience.
